Rebuilding Shotton Youth Centre

We’re proud to announce the successful completion of the newly built Shotton Youth Centre, a 30-week project we undertook for our clients d3associates and Shotton Parish Council. Despite several dispiriting challenges to our groundworks posed by extremely wet and windy weather last winter, our team displayed extraordinary resilience and have delivered an attractive multi-use building which is sure to be a lasting asset to the area.

In keeping with its modern aesthetic, the new Youth Centre is extremely energy-efficient and has recently received an exemplary A+ Energy Performance Certificate with a ‘beyond Net Zero’ CO2 rating, which proves that it has been designed for the future of the community in more ways than one.

Special thanks to our Site Manager, Gavin Cleverley MAPM, who delivered Shotton Youth Centre on time and to an excellent standard of workmanship. This was Gavin’s first big project with us after a career in the military and we were delighted to see how his leadership and commitment had such positive effect on his team even on the most challenging days of the project.

Thanks also to d3associates whose vision we were delighted to bring into reality – there were some really stylish features to this building which is already proving to be an inspiring and life-changing facility for young people in Shotton.

Great comments from our client Stuart Wardle, Client Project Manager at Shotton Parish Council:

“McCarricks have been excellent as main contractor despite a number of difficulties during the project. They supported the Council as client to help manage and reduce the impact of issues wherever possible. To be fair, we had ridculous weather during the contruction and all credit to the McCarricks Team for pro-actively managing these difficulties. In some cases they went above and beyond to deal with issues and problems that were often of a design nature.”

“We now have a fully operational and functional dedicated Youth Centre in Shotton Colliery that provides a fantastic venue for Youth services provision in the village following investment from the Youth Investment Fund.”

Well done to everyone involved.
