Over the past eight months our newly-promoted Project Manager Stu McDonald (pictured) has been managing a project that will undoubtedly change and improve many lives. On behalf of a regional council, Stu has managed a total refurbishment of a former family home to turn it into a fully kitted-out disabled children’s residential home which will have capacity to accommodate five children at a time with varying physical needs.

After stripping out the house, clearing the garden and reconfiguring some interior spaces, we have created or installed:

• Installation of a complete new thermal envelope
• Renewal of entire ground floor
• 60min fire protection throughout
• 2m perimeter acoustic fence
• Car park with EV charging
• 3 paved access ramps
• 200m2 tiled patio
• Complete re-wire including a new 3 phase supply
• Door automation
• Monitored CCTV, security and fire alarm system
• 2 Accessible bathrooms
• Ceiling hoists
• Adjustable bath
• Adjustable changing table
• Medical elevator
• Office
• Utility room
• 5 accessible bedrooms
• Accommodation for carers
• Huge, welcoming lounge
• Newly refitted communal kitchen
• Commercial laundry installation
• Adjustable sink/worktops

We’re delighted to be able to share this lovely selection of photos by Steve Coulthard, from which it’s easy to imagine that this peaceful and light-filled space will be a great place for children with additional needs to live in an appropriately safe and comfortable home, giving their families peace of mind and a break from caring responsibilities. We are extremely proud to have been a part of its development.
